Welcome sticky icon

Welcome to canyonsedgeplants.com. I hope to use this site to get information to you in a better fashion. The 2009 plant list can be found here. There is a printable form and there will soon be a more detailed list with additional fields. You will be able to download the list and search for plants according to shade, color, etc. using excel data sort. I am adding a few new plants this year and will be growing more in the deeper 3 inch pots and quarts.

Amarillo Botanic Gardens

Amarillo Botanic Gardens is a great place to see many different varieties of plants growing in our climate. Purchasing a membership will get you in to view the gardens unlimited times through the season. Volunteering in the beds will get you great practicle experience with someone elses plants so you don't have to practice in your own yard.

Growing Green

I have been growing as "green" as possible since starting this venture. I have found it saves money and I don't have to worry about being in a greenhouse for hours on end that I have treated to kill pests.

I have released Lady Beatles and other beneficials have found there way in.

Covering the plants at night and a fairly mild late winter has allowed me to not turn on the heaters this year.

The Plant List

I have put the plant list in as an Excel spreadsheet. You will be able to manipulate it as you like. (sort, delete, add your own notes, etc).
Be looking for other spreadsheets highlighting native plants, butterfly plants, deer resistant plants, etc.

Email Database

I am putting together an email database. If you would like to switch from the postal mailing to email simply contact me with your name, postal address, and email address and I will switch you.
If you are new to the mailing, an email address and your name will do. You might include another way to contact you in case your email changes and I cannot get it through to you in the future.
Please contact neal@midplains.coop and put "email list" in the subject line.
I will not sell or give your information to anyone else.

Recommended Plants

Here are a few plants that I am recommending for gardens. They have performed well for me in several different situations, look good for an extended period of time and are low maintenance (No deadheading required, prune back in spring and forget them).
Salvia greggii- Furman's Red and Esther's Red
Salvia Chamaedroides- Mexican Blue Sage
