Butterflies in the Panhandle

There are many types of butterflies and moths in the Panhandle. The smallest is the Western Pygmy Blue and the largest is the Giant Swallowtail. You will start to notice the butterflies and moths around you and you will start to pick out the differences between the different species. The more you observe the more differences you will observe in the butterflies around you. You will notice more and more different species. I would suggest you get a butterfly identification guide. The Kaufman guide to the butterflies of North America is my favorite. I have created a checklist that you can use for butterflies in our area.
