Easy-to-grow, first-year-flowering perennial,compact growing habit, uniform and showy flowers, extended bloom time. Garden Notes: This is the first year for me to grow this variety of penstemon. A related variety, Rondo pestemon, is one of the showiest Penstemon during its relatively short bloom season. Pinacolada is said to have a long bloom season. If the two are indeed combined in this plant it will be a great variety. Trial for 2010.

Gray-green leaves, slightly cupped. Give good drainage. Do not shear into hedge, but can prune branches back hard. Garden Notes: Shearing reduces blooms of Leucophyllums. Shear branches back hard in spring if needed to rejuvenate older plants. They will be bare for a short time, but will recover quickly.
